The School of Education of Hunter College-CUNY invites applications for a Lecturer in Early Childhood Special Education, birth through grade 2, starting late August 2019. The college places a high priority on research and teaching excellence at the university level with an expectation that the candidate will also be active in their professional field. Candidates must have a commitment to inquiry and advocacy on issues of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion that affect learning outcomes, including social-emotional learning, for children and youth. The college is strongly committed to achieving excellence through recruiting diverse candidates in regard to race, ethnicity, gender, disability, s*xual orientation, and other historically under-represented groups.

Applicants will be expected to: teach a variety of courses in the Early Childhood Special Education program; teach graduate courses that span birth through grade 2; supervise students in field placements; develop and maintain relationships with local programs that work in homes, classrooms and communities; advise graduate students; serve on department, school of education, college, and university committees; and serve as coordinator of various aspects of the Early Childhood Special Education program such as clinical experiences.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in early childhood special education (Masters degree or Doctorate or in a doctoral program related to early childhood special education preferred); Significant practical experience in early childhood special education; Extensive knowledge of theory and practice in early childhood special education; university teaching and supervisory experience; competence in a variety of methods and tools for university teaching, including technology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Practice and expertise in kindergarten through grade 2 special education, most particularly in inclusive settings and family supports within an early childhood education framework.
