The men of the Mayoral race consist of four. But according to research as it pertains to everyday Chicagoans, the most accessible thus far have been William "Dock" Walls and Miquel de Valle. This type of accessibility speaks volumes as we are looking to celebrate a new era of politics in the city of Chicago. Politicians who are transparent, accessible, accountable and equal in terms of the justice that is provided to the people and the services and resources that will be rendered to the people. Chicagoans are tired of the same old "Business as usual," type of leadership. However, the men of the Mayoral race, have a message to give to the city in order to allow their fellow Chicagoans know that this time around, it's not "Business as usually," but they will lead by example allowing and all to experience the transparency, accountability, equality, and accessibility to not just a selected few---but to all Chicagoans. Here is what Walls and De Valle have to say about the importance of being the Mayor.
I'm William Walls, however most people know me as Dock. We are at a pivitol point in history and it is time for positive change. When I become Mayor, I am going to change the culture of Chicago. It is a known fact that we spend more on incarceration than we spend on education. As Mayor, I will help change this. It is time for us to stop warehousing our children and give them the necessary tools that they need to become productive citizens. We have taken away from them some of the most important elements that are needed in schools. We are to bring back music, and expose them to technology and the other necessary resources that will keep them interested in staying in school. Because we have a high drop our rate we have to make sure that each school is providing a great quality education. There needs to be one common curriculum, and we must empower teachers through technology. If we keep our children interested and in school, the crime rate will drop significantly. It is the responsibility of the people to engage in proactive solutions to save our city. It is sad to see that most of the crime that our city is faced with is due to the many residents from the housing projects being misplaced. We are to stop sending our children to schools across gang lines. We must also have career opportunities for the youth in our communities. It is my plan to employing the National Guard not to police the streets but to protect our city from the illegal drugs and guns that are being flown into our city. I want you to know that I believe in complete civic participation. Anything that effects the people of the city of Chicago, you will know about. The City Council proceedings will be in real time and televised. I know that if the people of the city are informed they will be well engaged. I have been fighting for justice and transparency in government for many years. I was responsible for filing suit against appointing a CEO to Chicago Public Schools. I believe that there should be an educator at the head of Chicago Public Schools. I have a message unlike any of the other candidates that are running this race. I want to shift the thinking of Chicagoans to economic development. My goal is to bring new money and new jobs to the City of Chicago. I plan to focus on NANO technology. This will allow for many jobs to enter the city but also promote a cleaner Chicago. I am looking to rebuild communities with structure. In order to solve the problem of the ballooning deficit there are a number of things that I will do, but I will start with cutting the beautification projects, make Chicago paperless, and work to introduce to the city wind and solar energy. We have to unthink ourselves and become good stewards of the earth and welcome green technology. And we will start by offering people incentives to recycle. I was one of the first people to address the food deserts in our inner city communities. There should be a grocery store within every 1.4 miles in the city of Chicago. And the way that this will be done is by developing cooperatives---grocery stores staffed by union employees to help fund these stores. I have a long and short term plan for the city of Chicago, and with the help of the people the plan will work. Know that I care about our city. I am the only candidate who has proposed that the position of Mayor have a two year term offered to each candidate in order to raise up new leaders and keep the city fresh with new innovative ideas.

As Mayor of Chicago, I am looking to improve every neighborhood within our city. I do understand that the only way that this will be done, is by organizing communities. We need to strengthen and improve the schools in the community, focus on small business development, and have whole families engaged in family based learning. Young men and women who have dropped out of school between the ages of 17 and 19--must get back into school. We have to have work programs that correspond with schooling to keep the youth interested--programs like part-time work study. This will allow for our youth to work and go to school at the same time. It is because there is nothing for our kids to do, that they join gangs and get mixed up in trouble. We need to hold the parents accountable and make sure that they are the first teacher and not the second teacher. I am in full support of urban agriculture and making communities become greener. This will be another effort to keep our children busy in our communities and filling the vacant lots throughout the inner city. I will also like to connect with banks and other lending institutes to help with filling the lots this will help bring about community job opportunities for many. I will also track small manufacturers to create job opportunities. I believe that small businesses within our communities will help with creating jobs as well, and we have to cut through the obstacles and the red tape in order to expedite the process. I will operate as a hands-on Mayor. While serving as the City Clerk, I am known to be the first City Clerk that actually deal with the resident's person to person. I work this way because I believe in leading by example with staff. I will be the most accessible Mayor that our city have ever had. I also believe that it is important to involve the youth in the political process. Youth leadership development gives our youth the opportunity that they need to become leaders. We are to give them leadership roles within their own communities, this will help them to understand their communities more. This is another way to keep young children off of the streets and productive in our communities. I want to make sure that everyone in the communities throughout the city are involved and aware of the changes that are taking place. Apart of my effort to be transparent, I will put City Council meetings on line, and if you don't have a computer you can go to your local library or catch it on CANTV. This is going to be a different administration, the public will be able to participate, we will have a deliberate body---we will be a hands-on administration for the people.

But according to many Chicagoan's this concept certainly hasn't been the case for many long frustrating years. However, including the people in the decision making process seems to be the direction that each interviewed Mayoral candidate is looking to move in. As the city of Chicago has experienced a divide in government and it's people--leaving the people discouraged, oppressed, and frustrated with the choices that the government has made for them. While the people look forward to a brighter day, each candidate wants their fellow Chicagoans to know that this time around, look forward to what you have asked for---transparent, accessible, accountable and equal government for the people.
