Lead Parent Partner

SAFY is seeking a full-time Lead Parent Partner to serve our Columbus division in Ohio.

 As a Lead Parent Partner you are responsible for providing peer support through coaching the new and current Parent Partners and being the team liaison to the Program Manager. Facilitate, collaborative, provide supportive oversight among their assigned team, attend community meetings, and mentor individuals to utilize the most effective approach for individual families. Conduct follow up activities as needed, in addition to continuing to mentor families in care

What Youll Do 

  • Will adhere to the Parent Partner Approach Handbook 
  • Maintain clear verbal and behavioral boundaries during all interactions in order to ensure the integrity of the program 
  • Utilize clinical consultant for any questionable issues 
  • Be available to participate in Eligibility Requirement meetings related to a Parent Partner 
  • Act as a liaison between Coordinator and Parent Partners
  • Respond to Parent Partner questions and assist in identifying resources for program and specific concerns they may have 
  • In pursuit of higher education or training to enhance abilities/competencies to attend meetings and support families 
  • Maintain a reduced caseload providing support, coaching, mentoring to families determined by the Coordinator
  • Review and approve timecards, expense reports, supervision logs, encounters
  • Complete annual performance evaluations and discipline with support and supervision of Program Coordinator, if necessary
  • Report to Program Coordinator as assigned to address any issues or concerns that may pose conflict, difficulty, or border on crossing behavioral or legal boundaries 
  • Be able to effectively take direction from Program Coordinator 
  • Build collaborative networks with providers, court partnerships, local child welfare office, and the community 
  • Attend local steering committee and state advisory meetings and leadership meetings related to the Parent Partner program as assigned 
  • Possess, or be willing to develop, the skills necessary to discuss their experiences in workgroups, panels, and on various boards and committee as the parents' voice 
  • Be knowledgeable of issues related to the parent needs in the child welfare system 

Other:

  • Send monthly/quarterly reports to Coordinator and/or agency pilot sites
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of SAFY by participating in joint meetings, and problem identification and resolution
  • Establish and maintain a supportive and positive working relationship with youth, families, referring agencies, and other SAFY stake holders
  • Attend relevant in-house and external seminars, trainings, conferences and workshops to develop and enhance knowledge in the designated area as well as achieve relevant education hours per year to enhance professional and job related skills
  • Attends required meetings within division, region, and central office (team and/or community partners)
  • Participate in assigned committees and chairs if so appointed. If appointed, maintains liaisons with state and national organizations
  • Meets regularly with supervisor to discuss issues and performance
  • Sensitive and responsive to the cultural differences of staff, SAFY youth, foster parents, referral sources and the public
  • Conduct new staff orientation training as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

 Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Life-Trained paraprofessional with demonstrated experience as a parent or family member who has been involved in and negotiated the Child Welfare System.
  • All cases with state/county agencies must be closed, and candidate must be maintaining family stability.
  • Valid Drivers License is required.
  • Some travel is required.

  • Targeted hiring range: $44,000.00 to $50,000.00 
  • Compensation is commensurate with transferrable experience, education, and licensure of candidate, location of the position, along with internal equity and budgeted amount for the role.
