As a Quantum Computer Scientist, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and implementing software solutions that meet the needs of the U.S. Department of Agricultures large-scale conversion for a suite of Java applications from local servers to AWS servers.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Quantum Computer Scientist, the work youll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. You will play a crucial role in
- Help design, develop, evaluate, plan, and test engineering specifications for software programs and applications
- Help set up local workspace with Spring Tool Suite and cloned code repositories to be able to apply changes using BitBucket as version control (CI/CD pipelines)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
- Design and develop cloud-based applications using Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) technologies, Python, and other program languages
- Remove old Struts Framework Code and Tag Libraries from Java and JSP files
- Update Project Object Model (POM) files and XML configuration files to bring dependencies up to the necessary new version
- Run Maven commands for building and testing new codes
- Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
- Consult business process owners to evaluate process improvement opportunities and potential technology solutions
WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Quantum Computer Scientist must have:
- Education: BS in Computer Science or relevant
- Years of Experience: 3+ years of related experience
- Required Technical Skills:
- Experience in cloud-based applications using Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) technologies
- Effective organizational and analytical skills with the ability to develop and manage concurrent projects
- Proven strong communication skills to translate technical software solutions to non-technical clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Desired Programming Tools:
- Experience in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, and with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes a plus.
- AWS (Lambda), Javascript, Git, C++, Java, SQL
- Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines.
- Clearance: Public Trust (USDA clearance)
