Part III- Comrade Angela? Life is ever evolving....

When I said that Angela Davis is a multi-leveled , complex woman, I really meant that. A speaker of French, a songwriter-spoken word, a philosopher, a soldier, Vice-Presidential candidate in 1980 & 1984 on the Communist Ticket. So no Sarah Palin YOU are not the first.

She has lived in Cuba. In Germany, studied in Finland and France. Traveled more so in Europe than Africa. I will have to ask her some day. Why is that?

She speaks as a philosopher; no longer a communist but a "socialist-democrat" she is adored, admired, loved, songs have been written about her, John Lennon's "Sweet Black Angel." But something....well just something hasn't progressed. In order to understand her, you have to know her background. It bothers me greatly that her visits to the Motherland are sparse. I tend to recognize the "European" influence.

Certainly her fight for gender equality and the "abolition" of what she terms the prison industrial complex is still a vivid target of her passion. It addresses the plight of immigrants, Black men and women, white women who are the "extraordinary" inhabitants of these new "communities."

When I blogged about the violence that McCain/Palin are inciting, I put up the picture of the four little girls in Birmingham. She is the daughter of two college educated parents. She grew up in segregated Birmingham and was in Paris when the church that she speaks about in the link below was bombed. I shouldn't have had to explain who they were: So here is Angela's explanation.Listen:

I am not sure yet..I have to do a lot more research away from the limelight of the intoxicating aura of revolutionaries.

..and I believe based on my little research so far, but based on my knowledge of the government that it was her European ties that enabled her to be held to a "different" standard. As far a s color, you are reading to much into that, because Emmett Till was a green -eyed, light skinned young man.

It is my personal believe that the lack of justice for the KKK attacks on her home when she was young is what set Angela's destiny and not any thing from out side of the deep south fighting to live where her parents chose to do so.Why would a "government" whose legal system condoned crimes because of the color of one's skin and she in not dark.
